Bob first started
one to one maths tuition for our daughter at
a time when she was lacking in confidence in her
knowledge and ability. Over a 5 to 6 month
period, Bob provided an enjoyable,
focused approach to learning, revisitng and
introducing new techniques to enhance her
understanding. Encouraging our
daughter to develop a range of strategies to
problem solving, she grew in
confidence. Over this time, our
daughter not only acquired the knowledge she
needed (and more), but more importantly our
daughter's self belief in her abilities
increased dramatically enabling her

Sutherland is very reliable and prompt in
attending the tutor sessions. He is trustworthy
and built a very good relationship with our son.
The help
our son received was excellent and very clear in
delivery which helped him enormously in a subject
which he did not find too easy.

I strongly
recommend Bob Sutherland as a maths tutor
for any child. My two children were 14 and
11 when Bob came to help them and what a
difference his input made. The 14 year old
simply could not understand what she was being
taught at school and therefore hated maths with a
vengeance. After only a very short time
with Bob, she became determined to get the better
of what until then had been the 'most boring
subject ever'. As for the 11 year old, she
could do it but didn't want to, and Bob was able
to make the subject interesting and relevant and
therefore changed her views, she is now in a much
higher maths set and determined to stay there!
Bob has a very good attitude around children -
this rubs off on them and they are plainly very
keen to please him. This happens in such a
way that I don't think they are aware of the
positive changes. Both my girls really
liked Bob and his teaching methods and were
greatly helped by his expertise and wise
counsel. So much so, that the one who
really struggled and HATED maths got a B at GCSE
- this was, for her, a brilliant result and we
were all absolutely thrilled for her. I am
sure that without Bob's help there would have
been no maths GCSE to put down on her results
sheet. We used to tell her that once she
had done her GCSEs she need never do maths again.
Nevertheless its good to be able to put a B down
on any forms that have to be filled in. One
other thing about this B - that is the mark that
Bob had said all along could be achieved if she
worked hard, so he really did know her potential.
Sometimes one or other of the children could be
exceptionally surly and potentially difficult but
Bob was able to take this in his stride, not be
offended (amazingly - as we sometimes felt
embarrassed by their behaviour) and get them back
on track.
I cannot stress strongly enough how very pleased
we were to find Bob and only wish he was still in
this area to keep tutoring the little one.
We wish him well and strongly encourage anyone
thinking that their child just needs a little bit
more help that Bob is the right man for the
job.

| Bob really helped
me to achieve success in AS maths and further
maths. Before lessons I was finding one of the
modules a particular challenge to understand, but
as a result of Bob’s help I managed to get
an A in it. The lessons were well – prepared
and I found them very productive. Bob was always
friendly and explained everything clearly. I
would highly recommend him to anybody who feels

We were thrilled that Max
got an A in GCSE maths and put this down
predominantly to the support given by Bob. Max
really benefitted from the 1-2-1 approach and Bob
tailored the content and style of his session to
suit Max. It was fantastic value to have peace of
mind on one important GCSE.
Even with Max's typical teenage boy's disregard
for work and exams he responded well to Bob's
straight forward style and was never reluctant to
work with Bob who made things fun and
interesting.
We would recommend Bob whole heartedly to anyone
looking for Maths support for their children and
found him very easy to work with and involve in
our family routine.
